Internet Marketing...
Of all the marketing strategies that has the power to revolutionise a
small business Internet Marketing is way ahead in terms of
allowing you to instantly test a market, get more customers and create new
relationships with those that are in the market for your product or service.
But to maximise the internet's potential via Internet Marketing
you need to know what you are doing.
The following are 7 tips that will help you maximise what you are
currently doing or help you make the right moves if you are just starting
out...
1. The Number One Goal Of All
Experienced
Internet Marketers
The number one goal of all marketers that
make money on the web is to build a list of prospects.
You see once
you have a list of people that have identified themselves as being
interested in your product or service, your chances of selling something to them
dramatically increases.
So it follows that your number one goal is
to capture the details of people that visit your site. If you don't have
this strategy in place you're making a big mistake.
2. Opt In Boxes And Where To Put Them
If the number one purpose of your website is to capture prospect details
then you need to have 'opt in' boxes strategically positioned on the page to
give you the best chance of achieving your goal.
From all of the testing I and many other experienced internet marketers
have done, the best place to to position your opt in boxes is in the top
right corner of the page.
The other place you need to have your opt in box is at the bottom of the
page.
3. Important Info Needs To Go 'Above The
Fold'
Now you might be thinking what the hell
does 'above the fold' mean? All this means is the top part of the page that
a user sees before they scroll down.
And the reason for this is if you've only
got a few seconds before they click away.
So if you've got something you want a
prospect to see that's important then make sure you've got it front and
centre.
4. Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising Is The Quickest And Best Way To Get To
The TOP Of Google
If you haven't done so already you should
test PPC marketing using Google's AdWords PPC model. PPC allows you to have an ad up in minutes that can be positioned at the top of the
internet when prospects type in a common search term for your kind of
business.
This is a massive area which I will cover
in much greater depth in my FREE newsletter (go to the bottom of the page to
get it now) but for now here's the best tip I could give you...
This means if you create an ad that says "FREE Report reveals
[whatever you're selling]", when someone clicks on the ad make sure you
take them to a page that asks them to opt in for it. Don't take them to your
home page if it isn't all about the 'FREE report'.
If you keep asking yourself "if I was them is this what I'd be wanting to
see after clicking through?" then you won't go far wrong.
5. Make It Easy To Read...
Another big mistake I see people make with their website is they
make the text spread from one side of the screen to the other. People find
this very difficult to read and you can lose a lot of visitors because of
it.
Ideally you want you text to fit into a column like you see on this
site. Why do you think newspapers are created in a multi-column format? The
same rule applies.
6. Use Automation To Your Advantage
As you know the internet is an electronic machine and because of it it
lends itself to automation more than any other form of media.
One of the best and cheapest forms of automation you can use is something
called an 'autoresponder'. An autoresponder is an automated email program that
allows you to collect names and email addresses using opt in boxes on your
website which capture the info.
It will then allow you to automatically send an email to anyone that opts
in to whatever you're offering (for example a newsletter) and then send a
automatic sequence of emails to your list of subscribers, as if you were
sitting there late at night and doing it yourself manually!
Just type in "email autoresponder" into Google and you'll be spoilt for
choice.
7. Use Video To Make Your Site Come
Alive
Now I know what you're thinking "Video?
There's no way I can afford that!"
I'm here to tell you that video is not only
massively effective in increasing opt in rates and keeping prospects on your
website pages but it's also cheap to put together.
For less than £200 you can buy a normal
digital camera with a couple of megabytes of memory which will allow you to
capture videos of anything you like.
You can then upload these into sites like
Youtube or Google Video and you have your own online video with it's own
video streaming function which you can cut and paste into your own website.
The videos you see on this site were
created using the exact same method.
